We’re hosting @movetostockholm this week!

This week we are hosting the local Twitter account @movetostockholm!

A joint initiative by Invest Stockholm and the Stockholm tech community, @movetostockholm has the goal to inspire international talent to join the Stockholm tech scene. What better way to be inspired than connecting with the people who have already made the move? Since the Ungapped team is a great mix of home-grown and international talent, it was a natural fit for us to share how we operate and contribute to the Stockholm tech scene.

However, while we love the twittersphere sometimes 140 characters is just too little to get to know someone. So as an extension of our week hosting @movetostockholm, we thought we’d share a bit more about the team right here!

That more people would stop and give me cuddles.

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

Everything is close by: like shops, great restaurants and nice parks.

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

I’ve recently graduated so for me it was getting into a regular, daily routine. But other than that, Stockholm is easy to settle into!

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

More rental apartments would be great for people that move here to work!

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

For me it’s about the flat hierarchical structure and the ability to influence your work situation e.g. what you should focus on and prioritize during the week.

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

Maybe the initial “getting into a working life” routine. When you’re in it kind of flows on relatively easily.

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

I really like when they close down streets from traffic in the summer and have restaurants and bars out in the streets. More of that!

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

I love the vibe, and the progressive and creative side. Not to mention that you can reach more than 5 European capital cities within 1 hour. 

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

I think it can be that many people are very private, so it can be hard to get to know your co-workers sometimes.

Beautiful, progressive and open-minded

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

I would love for it to be a bit colder in the winter and hotter in the summer so that we could enjoy the outdoors more; ski and skate on the lakes in the winter and then enjoy the water in the summer.

A small country town north of Melbourne, Australia. I’ve called Sweden home for the last 3 years.

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

For the small city that it is, it’s still a serious world player in innovation and technology. I love that as a community we produce some of the world’s most loved products and brands.

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

It took me some time to realize that networking is crucial in Stockholm. You need to put the time into meeting people through networks, groups and events and while it takes time, the connections you establish are long-lasting.

Equality, problem-solvers, and fresh air

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

Stockholm is wonderfully open to new people and new cultures but I do feel there is a lack of basic serviced in languages other than Swedish. I’d love to see more of these services available to foreign talents – which is why initiatives like @movetostockholm are so important to this community!

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

I should think it’s pretty easy for anyone since there’s usually very little pressure to do anything you don’t want to do.

Clean, polite, and beautiful.

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

I’d like a bit more candor in working relationships – the Swedish working culture dictates that confrontation is something that should be avoided and that can hinder a team overall.

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

My friends and family also live in Stockholm so it’s great to have them so close by.

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

The traffic! For a relatively small city, there can be a lot of traffic.

Beautiful, pleasant, and a place of many activities

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

I live a bit outside of the city so I would love to improve commuting transport such as buses, metro lines and traffic in the morning and afternoon.

I was born in Barcelona and grew up in different cities around Spain. Now I’m a local in Stockholm having been here for 9 years.

What do you love most about working in Stockholm?

Life is simple and work in general too. The office environments are flexible and peaceful; with those two things the rest comes on its own. It’s easy to get the feeling that you are in the right place.

What’s the hardest thing about settling into a working life in Stockholm?

Those few months where I need and I really miss the sun in order to wake up early in the morning.

Easy, Friendly, Trendy.

If you could change one thing about Stockholm, what would it be?

As I mentioned, life is easy when you work in Stockholm. That’s because everything is orientated towards peoples’ working life. But it can be easy to fall into the idea that if you don’t work, you are no one. I’d like for people to get into the habit of thinking that we only have one life and we must be able to enjoy it. Work is important yes, but isn’t everything.
