In the default template for the event confirmation-mailing there is a “Add this event to your calendar”-link.
In addition to the date, time and name of the event, the calendar file also contains the event description, a link to the event page, a link to Google maps and a cancellation link.

You can also manually add a calendar link to an event email. (NOTE! This feature will not work if you add the link in a regular email that is not linked to an event!!!)
